Paintings - Mixed Media
Mixed media paintings explore themes of spatial dynamics, rhythm, movement and urban geometries, while also referencing elements of the natural world. Surfaces of the artworks are worked repeatedly and richly layered with pattern, color, ephemera, and texture conveying depth and the patina of time. Carefully chosen color, transparent or opaque, floats or recedes, changing the two-dimensional surface of the painting into an environment of its own. Trajectories of line reflect wayfinding, restless wandering, and the need to find order or meaning. The viewer sometimes finds themselves observing spatial compositions that reference both the micro and the macro within the whole. 2019-2021
